Cinemavixion Review

This documentary, "Ending The War: How This President Won a Nobel Peace Prize | Port of Destiny: Peace", delves into the complex legacy of Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos. Released in 2016, the year he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the film chronicles his pivotal role in ending a devastating five-decade civil war. The narrative highlights the profound duality of Santos's career: first as a formidable Defense Minister who waged war against the FARC guerrilla movement, orchestrating high-stakes operations and hostage rescues, and later as President, skillfully navigating the treacherous path to peace. The film sheds light on the immense human cost of the conflict, marked by hundreds of thousands of deaths and millions displaced, while also exploring the significant political sacrifices Santos endured to achieve this historic accord. It serves as a compelling examination of leadership, reconciliation, and the enduring challenges of peace-building in a nation scarred by conflict.
