ELIZABETH HARVEST

Cinemavixion Review

Sebastian Gutierrez's 'Elizabeth Harvest' is a chilling descent into domestic unease, masquerading as a gothic sci-fi thriller. Abbey Lee delivers a compelling performance as the titular Elizabeth, a young bride whose opulent new life with her brilliant, enigmatic husband Henry (Ciarán Hinds) unravels with each passing moment. The film masterfully builds suspense, hinting at dark secrets lurking beneath the surface of their magnificent estate, aided by the subtly unsettling presence of Carla Gugino as the housekeeper. While the plot's twists may not entirely surprise seasoned genre fans, the film's atmospheric dread and Lee's central performance make it a worthwhile, albeit unsettling, watch. Released in 2018, this independent feature offers a claustrophobic exploration of control and hidden truths, leaving audiences to ponder the true cost of a gilded cage.
