EASIER WITH PRACTICE

Cinemavixion Review

Kyle Patrick Alvarez's "Easier with Practice" is a surprisingly intimate and nuanced exploration of loneliness, connection, and self-discovery, loosely based on the experiences of Davy Rothbart. The film charts Davy Mitchell's (Brian Geraghty) ostensibly promotional road trip with his brother, which quickly devolves into a solitary and unfulfilling endeavor. The narrative takes a compelling turn when Davy receives a spontaneous phone call from Nicole, initiating a long-distance, phone-sex-fueled affair that blossoms into something unexpectedly tender and funny. This unconventional romance, driven by voice and imagination, provides Davy with a much-needed balm for his existential ennui. "Easier with Practice" is lauded for its honest portrayal of modern intimacy, earning an impressive 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metascore of 72. It's a film that delves into the complexities of human relationships, proving that sometimes, the most profound connections can begin with the simplest of calls.
