DREAM A LITTLE DREAM

Cinemavixion Review

Marc Rocco's "Dream a Little Dream" offers a peculiar blend of teen romance and supernatural body-swapping, anchored by a surprisingly poignant turn from veteran actor Jason Robards. The narrative centers on Bobby Keller (Corey Feldman), a high school slacker whose crush on Lainie Diamond (Meredith Salenger) takes an unexpected detour when the consciousness of an elderly scientist, Coleman Ettinger (Robards), inhabits his body. This premise, while outlandish, allows for an exploration of generational disconnect and the anxieties of adolescence. Feldman and Corey Haim deliver their signature youthful energy, but it's Robards who provides the film's emotional core. Despite a lukewarm critical reception and a modest box office performance, the film's unique concept and the performances, particularly Robards', make it a curious, albeit flawed, cinematic experiment worth rediscovering.
