DON'T READ THIS ON A PLANE

Cinemavixion Review

Stuart McBratney's "Don't Read This on a Plane" offers a compelling blend of drama and dark humor, charting the unexpected journey of novelist Jovana Fey. Following the abrupt bankruptcy of her publisher, Fey finds herself stranded and penniless mid-way through her European book tour. The film cleverly pivots from a tale of literary ambition to a picaresque adventure, as Fey resorts to hitchhiking and couch-surfing to fulfill her commitments across the continent. Sophie Desmarais delivers a nuanced performance as Fey, navigating the character's vulnerability and resilience with aplomb. While the film may not have garnered widespread accolades, its unique premise and exploration of perseverance in the face of adversity make it a noteworthy independent feature. Its blend of comedic situations with underlying dramatic tension provides a thought-provoking, albeit unconventional, narrative.
