DISCOVERING HAMLET

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a rare glimpse into the demanding process of staging Shakespeare's magnum opus, "Hamlet." Set in 1988, it chronicles Kenneth Branagh's initial foray into the iconic role at Birmingham Repertory Theatre. Guided by the esteemed Derek Jacobi, himself a celebrated interpreter of the Prince of Denmark, the film captures the intense four-week rehearsal period leading up to opening night. Narrated by the commanding voice of Patrick Stewart, the footage promises an intimate look at the creative struggles and triumphs behind a major theatrical production. It’s a fascinating study for anyone interested in the evolution of performance and the enduring power of Shakespearean drama.
