DID VICTORIAN PRISONS ACTUALLY TRY TO REFORM PRISONERS? | SECRETS FROM THE CLINK | TIMELINE

Cinemavixion Review

Timeline's "Secrets From The Clink" delves into the stark realities of Victorian prisons, questioning the extent to which reform was a genuine objective. This installment follows celebrities as they trace their family histories through the penal system of the era. The narrative highlights the harshness of prison life, exemplified by the story of Len Goodman's ancestor enduring assault and hard labor. The documentary uses these personal connections to illuminate the broader societal attitudes towards crime and punishment, exploring the punitive rather than rehabilitative focus of the Victorian justice system. It serves as a compelling look at a dark chapter in history, offering viewers a chance to reflect on the evolution of penal practices.
