DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

Cinemavixion Review

"Diamond in the Rough" presents a poignant exploration of resilience set against the stark backdrop of Colorado. The narrative centers on Michelle, a young protagonist navigating the tumultuous waters of familial addiction and trauma, which lead to a period of homelessness and a crisis of faith. The film delves into the profound impact of parental struggles, particularly a mother's addiction and a father's PTSD, creating an atmosphere of dysfunction that Michelle must overcome. However, the story offers glimmers of hope through the steadfast faith of a grandmother and the unexpected solace found in new friendships. This indie drama, directed by Rob Walker, effectively portrays how adversity can forge character, suggesting that hardships often serve as a crucible for an extraordinary destiny. With solid performances, particularly from Clifton Powell and Bodhi Rader, the film is a compelling testament to the enduring human spirit.
