DEVIL (AKA DIABLO)

Cinemavixion Review

Nicanor Loreti's 'DEVIL (aka DIABLO)' plunges into the tormented psyche of Marcos Wainsberg, a former boxing champion haunted by a fatal bout that ended his career and his peace of mind. The narrative, set in 2011, explores Marcos's struggle with depression and guilt as he contemplates a quiet life, only to have it disrupted by the arrival of his estranged cousin. Loreti crafts a tense atmosphere, hinting at a pivotal shift in Marcos's life, leaving the audience to ponder whether this change will lead to redemption or further despair. The film features a compelling performance by Juan Palomino in the titular role, supported by Sergio Boris and Luis Aranosky, as it delves into themes of consequence, regret, and the unpredictable nature of fate.
