DETECTIVE DEE: SCENT OF A KILLER

Cinemavixion Review

Embark on a journey to the opulent yet perilous Wu Zhou period with "Detective Dee: Scent of a Killer." This film plunges us into a mystery steeped in the supernatural, where a murdered dancer's spirit wreaks havoc upon Luoyang. The narrative artfully introduces a compelling twist with the exile and subsequent assassination attempt on Dee, the renowned detective. What unfolds is a clever tale of mistaken identity, with a doppelgänger thrust into Dee's formidable role. The real Dee, stripped of his memories but not his sharp instincts, finds himself drawn back to the case, his keen senses detecting a peculiar fragrance linked to the victims. The interplay between the genuine and the imposter Dee promises a unique investigative partnership, as they navigate a path toward uncovering the truth behind the vengeful "female ghost." This is a compelling setup for a detective thriller, blending historical intrigue with a touch of the uncanny.
