DESIGNING A GARDEN AROUND A NATURAL LANDSCAPE | DREAM GARDENS

Cinemavixion Review

Phillip and Maria Visalli's rural retreat on the Central Coast of New South Wales offers a compelling study in the art of landscape design, particularly when harmonizing with a natural bushland setting. Their vision for a minimalist garden, employing materials like sandstone, weathered steel, and decomposed granite, speaks to a thoughtful integration with the existing environment. The strategic use of ornamental plants and mature fruit trees promises not only aesthetic appeal but also immediate impact, artfully framing the view towards a serene lake. This ambitious project, undertaken alongside the anticipation of their first child and the demands of a busy Sydney restaurant, underscores a desire for a tranquil sanctuary. The narrative highlights the inherent challenges of garden construction – delays, weather, budget, and design evolution – adding a layer of relatable struggle to the pursuit of this idyllic space. It's a journey of growth, both for the garden and the family, promising a space to relax, unwind, and witness life unfold.
