DESERT SON

Cinemavixion Review

James Mann and Brandon Nicholas's "Desert Son" plunges viewers into the harsh realities of survival on the fringes of society. The film masterfully chronicles the harrowing journey of Phillip, a young man escaping an abusive home only to find himself entangled with a pair of teenage orphans in a desolate ghost town. The narrative expertly navigates the escalating desperation of petty crimes as a means of existence, building to a tragic crescendo that tests the bonds of loyalty and survival. John Bain, Erica Curtis, and Nathan Halliday deliver raw, compelling performances that anchor the film's emotional weight. While the IMDb rating suggests a mixed reception, the film's unflinching portrayal of its characters' plight and the unforgiving desert landscape makes it a potent exploration of resilience and the consequences of one's choices.
