DEREK'S DEAD

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Derek's Dead,' director Curt Neill presents a darkly comedic premise that hinges on the strained reunion of two former best friends, tasked with a most unceremonious duty: spreading the ashes of a mutual acquaintance they both decidedly dislike. The film, released in 2020, stars Neill himself alongside Kyle Mizono and Cole Hersch. The narrative centers on the reluctant partnership forged between the protagonists as they navigate their animosity while fulfilling the final, albeit unenthusiastic, request. While the IMDb rating suggests a mixed reception at 5.1/10, the underlying concept offers a potentially engaging exploration of fractured friendships and the absurdities of obligation, making it a noteworthy watch for those who appreciate unconventional comedic setups.
