DEPRIVATION

Cinemavixion Review

Chris Foster's 2019 independent horror film, "Deprivation," plunges viewers into a chilling experiment gone awry. The premise is simple yet effective: three friends isolate themselves in a cabin, determined to stay awake for seven consecutive days, documenting their ordeal on camera. As the sleep deprivation inevitably takes hold, their grip on reality loosens, leading to increasingly disturbing hallucinations. What elevates "Deprivation" beyond a typical found-footage flick is the unsettling realization that these apparitions are not merely figments of their deteriorating minds, but are in fact manifesting on their recording equipment. Foster, who also stars in and directs, crafts a claustrophobic atmosphere that amplifies the psychological torment. While the film may not boast blockbuster production values, its commitment to exploring the terrifying boundaries of human endurance and perception makes it a compelling watch for fans of psychological horror. The IMDb rating of 4.7 suggests a mixed reception, but its unique premise and unsettling execution warrant attention.
