DEPARTURES (THEN CAME YOU)

Cinemavixion Review

Maisie Williams and Asa Butterfield star in "Departures" (also known as "Then Came You"), a poignant dramedy that explores themes of life, love, and confronting mortality. Williams plays Skye, a vibrant teenager grappling with a terminal illness, who enlists the help of Calvin (Butterfield), a young hypochondriac paralyzed by his own anxieties. Together, they embark on a "bucket list" of experiences, a journey that unexpectedly helps Calvin overcome his fears and even find love with Izzy, portrayed by Nina Dobrev. The film, drawing parallels to "The Fault in Our Stars," offers a touching narrative that emphasizes the importance of living life to its fullest, regardless of its duration. It's a sweet, uplifting reminder that how we embrace our days is what truly defines us.
