禁断のデカメロン | DECAMERON PROIBITISSIMO

Cinemavixion Review

Marino Girolami's 1972 film, "禁断のデカメロン | Decameron Proibitissimo" (also known as "Decameron proibitissimo (Boccaccio mio statte zitto)"), is a sexy comedy that draws inspiration from Giovanni Boccaccio's classic "Decameron." Set against the backdrop of the Black Death epidemic in Renaissance Italy, the narrative follows a group of young men and women who retreat to a secluded villa near Florence. There, they find themselves entangled in a series of increasingly steamy and humorous predicaments, sharing tales of illicit affairs and forbidden desires. Featuring performances from Franco Agostini, Enzo Andronico, and Alberto Atenari, the film offers a lighthearted, albeit risqué, take on the enduring themes of love, lust, and human folly, as explored in its literary source material. While not a critical darling, receiving a 5.0/10 on IMDb, it stands as an example of the era's comedic and erotic cinema, providing entertainment through its playful scenarios and its nod to a timeless literary work.
