DEATH ROW AND BACK: THE DUMA KUMALO STORY

Cinemavixion Review

This powerful documentary, "Death Row and Back: The Duma Kumalo Story," plunges the viewer into the harrowing experience of wrongful conviction and the agonizing wait for execution. The film masterfully chronicles Duma Kumalo's journey, a man who found himself on the precipice of the hangman's noose for a crime he did not commit. It vividly portrays the immense psychological toll of death row and the profound challenges of reintegrating into society after such a traumatic ordeal. Kumalo's own words, "Facing death is hard, but facing life after facing death is harder," encapsulate the film's central theme: the enduring struggle for survival and the indelible impact of systemic injustice. This is a deeply moving testament to resilience and a stark reminder of the human cost of judicial error.
