DEATH ON THE FOUR POSTER

Cinemavixion Review

Joe Josipovici's "Death on the Four Poster" plunges viewers into a disquieting blend of hedonism and the supernatural. Set against the backdrop of a secluded country castle, the film initially promises a decadent escape, following a group of young people embracing a carefree existence. However, the atmosphere soon thickens with an unsettling tension as the veneer of 'la dolce vita' cracks. The introduction of a mysterious housekeeper and hidden passages sets the stage for a dramatic shift, moving from lighthearted revelry to a chilling séance. The narrative skillfully navigates this transition, exploring the psychological undercurrents beneath the surface of youthful abandon. The ensemble cast, led by John Drew Barrymore, delivers performances that capture both the allure and the inherent vulnerability of their characters as they confront the unknown. This Italian production offers a unique, atmospheric thriller that lingers long after the credits roll.
