DEALING WITH LONDON FOOTBALL HOOLIGANS | SEND IN THE DOGS

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary offers a gritty, up-close look at the challenging work undertaken by the Greater Manchester Police's dog handling unit. The narrative follows several officers and their canine partners through a series of intense situations. We witness PC Greaves and his German Shepherd, Riley, confront a dangerous individual armed with a knife. Simultaneously, Sgt Midgley embarks on the rigorous journey of qualifying as a rookie dog handler, a significant career shift after 25 years on the force. Adding to the drama, PC Lowden and his dog Oscar navigate a pursuit complicated by a malfunctioning Sat Nav, leading them to a suspect in a restroom. The unit's mettle is further tested by a tense siege involving a man threatening his family with a knife, and the formidable task of managing thousands of soccer fans, recalling the violent clashes with Scottish and Russian supporters during the 2008 UEFA Cup Final. The program highlights the bravery, skill, and dedication required of these officers and their highly trained dogs in maintaining public safety.
