DEADLY CUTS

Cinemavixion Review

Rachel Carey's "Deadly Cuts" offers a vibrant and unexpectedly thrilling ride through the heart of a Dublin community, proving that sometimes the most formidable heroes emerge from the most ordinary of places. What begins as a charming narrative about a group of resilient hairstylists fighting to save their beloved salon from the clutches of ruthless developers and local thugs, quickly escalates into a darkly comedic tale of vigilante justice. The film masterfully blends sharp wit with a surprisingly potent social commentary, as Michelle (Angeline Ball) and her team of stylists transform from salon professionals into unlikely protectors of their neighborhood. The plot, while rooted in the everyday struggles of a working-class suburb, takes a delightfully audacious turn, leading the characters towards an improbable, high-stakes hairdressing competition as their ultimate salvation. Garnering significant critical acclaim, including a notable 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, "Deadly Cuts" is celebrated for its unique premise, energetic pacing, and strong performances. It’s a testament to Carey's directorial vision that the film manages to be both a crowd-pleasing caper and a poignant exploration of community resilience. This is a film that celebrates the power of solidarity, proving that with enough style and determination, even the most daunting challenges can be 'cut' down to size.
