DAY OF THE MUMMY

Cinemavixion Review

Johnny Tabor's "Day of the Mummy" plunges audiences into the arid sands of Egypt, unearthing a tale of ancient curses and modern greed. The film follows Jack Wells and his team as they venture into the tomb of King Neferu, seeking the legendary Codix Stone. However, their archaeological pursuits quickly devolve into a desperate fight for survival when the titular mummy is awakened. While the premise promises a classic horror-adventure, the execution leans heavily into B-movie territory. The narrative, though functional, rarely surprises, relying on familiar tropes of mummy flicks. Despite a respectable cast including William McNamara and Danny Glover, the performances are often hampered by a script that prioritizes jump scares over character development. The special effects, while adequate for the film's apparent budget, do little to elevate the tension. "Day of the Mummy" offers a modest diversion for fans of the genre, but it struggles to rise above the shadows of its predecessors.
