DAVID AND GOLIATH

Cinemavixion Review

Orson Welles, a titan of cinema, lends his commanding presence to the role of King Saul in "David and Goliath," a grand biblical epic from 1960. Directed by Ferdinando Baldi, this film plunges viewers into the heart of ancient Israel's struggle, charting the remarkable ascent of a humble shepherd boy named David. As the nation's fate teeters on a precipice, David must confront the formidable Philistine champion, Goliath, in a legendary battle that tests not only physical prowess but also unwavering faith and courage. The narrative skillfully blends divine prophecy with historical spectacle, delivering a sweeping saga of triumph over adversity. While the film may not boast the critical acclaim of Welles' directorial masterpieces, it remains a compelling testament to his enduring charisma and a worthy exploration of a timeless story of destiny and divine intervention.
