DARK TOURIST

Cinemavixion Review

Suri Krishnamma's 2012 psychological thriller "Dark Tourist" delves into the unsettling obsession of Jim Tahana, a man consumed by the desire to visit the sites of notorious serial killer crimes. Played with unnerving intensity by Pruitt Taylor Vince, Tahana's "grief tourism" is less a morbid fascination and more a descent into his own fractured psyche. The film, which also features notable performances from Melanie Griffith and Michael Cudlitz, draws comparisons to gritty character studies like "Taxi Driver" and "Monster." While "Dark Tourist" may not have garnered widespread critical acclaim, its exploration of dark human impulses and the nature of obsession offers a compelling, albeit disturbing, cinematic experience for those drawn to the darker corners of the thriller genre.
