DARK TOURIST

Cinemavixion Review

Suri Krishnamma's "Dark Tourist" plunges viewers into the unsettling psyche of Jim Tahana, a man consumed by the morbid fascination of 'grief tourism.' This psychological thriller, echoing the bleak intensity of classics like 'Taxi Driver,' excels in its exploration of insatiable hunger and the voids that drive individuals to extreme obsessions. Michael Cudlitz delivers a compelling performance as Tahana, whose fixation on serial killers and their tragic sites becomes a descent into a personal labyrinth of unraveling reality and dark impulses. The film masterfully builds a sense of dread, drawing parallels between Tahana's outward emptiness and his increasingly violent inner turmoil. While the critical reception, as indicated by a 25% Rotten Tomatoes score, suggests a divisive viewing experience, "Dark Tourist" remains a potent, albeit disturbing, character study that probes the darker corners of the human psyche.
