DARK PARASITE

Cinemavixion Review

Luca Boni and Marco Ristori's "Dark Parasite" (2023) plunges viewers into a claustrophobic nightmare where a botched heist leads a gang of thieves to seek refuge in a derelict apartment building. Their sanctuary, however, becomes a trap as they unwittingly share their hiding place with an enigmatic extraterrestrial entity lurking in the basement, possessing unsettling telepathic abilities. The film, starring Michael Segal, Désirée Giorgetti, and Aaron Stielstra, crafts a tense atmosphere, exploring themes of confinement and the unknown. While the narrative sets a promising stage for a sci-fi horror encounter, its execution, as suggested by its IMDb rating of 2.3/10, may leave audiences wanting more. Nonetheless, "Dark Parasite" offers a low-budget but ambitious foray into creature features, potentially appealing to fans of gritty, independent horror that favors psychological dread over elaborate special effects.
