DANIEL ISN'T REAL

Cinemavixion Review

Adam Egypt Mortimer's 'Daniel Isn't Real' plunges into the disquieting territory where childhood trauma meets adolescent delusion. Starring Miles Robbins as the troubled Luke, the film masterfully navigates the thin line between psychological drama and outright horror. When Luke's grip on reality loosens under the weight of his past, he summons Daniel, his charismatic imaginary friend, now a dangerously manipulative entity ready to take control. Patrick Schwarzenegger embodies Daniel with a chilling blend of charm and menace, making the descent into madness all the more compelling. The film is visually inventive, employing a surreal aesthetic to mirror Luke's fracturing psyche. While the narrative occasionally strains under its own ambition, the strong performances and unsettling atmosphere make 'Daniel Isn't Real' a noteworthy entry in the genre, earning praise with an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic score of 61.
