DANIEL ISN'T REAL

Cinemavixion Review

Adam Egypt Mortimer's 'Daniel Isn't Real' is a chilling and inventive exploration of adolescent turmoil, masterfully blurring the lines between psychological horror and supernatural thriller. The film delves into the psyche of Luke, a young man grappling with trauma and social isolation, who finds solace and then terror in the form of his charismatic, imaginary childhood friend, Daniel. Patrick Schwarzenegger delivers a standout performance as Daniel, embodying a seductive yet sinister charisma that is both captivating and deeply unsettling. Miles Robbins effectively portrays Luke's descent into dependence and paranoia. With its striking visual style and a narrative that probes the dark corners of the mind, 'Daniel Isn't Real' offers a thought-provoking and genuinely unnerving cinematic experience that resonates long after the credits roll. The film's critical reception, including an 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, underscores its success in delivering a potent blend of genre thrills and thematic depth.
