DAMAGED GOODS

Cinemavixion Review

In "Damaged Goods," Amanda's life unravels amidst financial woes, professional threats, and a neglectful landlord. This domestic drama, set in 2021, delves into the complex relationship between Amanda and her estranged, abusive father when he reappears, critically ill and in need of a transplant. The narrative hinges on Amanda's agonizing choice: to offer forgiveness and a life-saving organ to the man who caused her immense pain, or to let him die, thereby perpetuating her own cycle of suffering. The film, directed by Katherine Oostman and Nancy Stafford, features a compelling performance from Hannah Alline as Amanda, who must confront her past trauma to determine her future. The supporting cast, including Danny Vinson and Abi Van Andel, effectively portrays the characters caught in Amanda's turbulent life. "Damaged Goods" is a poignant exploration of abuse, forgiveness, and the arduous journey toward healing.
