CUT AND RUN

Cinemavixion Review

Ruggero Deodato's "Cut and Run" plunges viewers into the dense, unforgiving heart of the Amazon, delivering a visceral thriller that taps into primal fears. The narrative follows a television reporter and her cameraman as they pursue a story that spirals into a dangerous confrontation with a ruthless drug cartel. While the plot may tread familiar ground, Deodato's signature unflinching direction and the film's raw, often brutal, atmosphere elevate it beyond a simple exploitation flick. The performances, particularly from the lead actors, lend a necessary gravitas to the escalating terror. Originally released in 1984, this adventure-horror-thriller offers a potent blend of investigative journalism gone awry and the stark realities of jungle warfare, making it a compelling, albeit disturbing, watch for those seeking a potent dose of cinematic suspense.
