CULTS OF PERSONALITY - BECOMING EVIL

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the chilling parallel rise of serial killing in late 19th-century America through the cases of H.H. Holmes, infamously known as 'Dr. Death' in Chicago, and Jane Toppan, a nurse operating in Boston. The episode, 'Becoming Evil,' from the series 'Cults of Personality,' meticulously reconstructs the horrific crimes of these two individuals, exploring the nascent understanding of serial homicide in the United States during that era. It offers a grim look at how two seemingly ordinary figures became architects of terror, leaving a dark legacy that would shape perceptions of crime and deviancy for decades to come.
