CRYPTOQUEEN

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the audacious rise and mysterious disappearance of Ruja Ignatova, the self-proclaimed 'Cryptoqueen' behind the OneCoin cryptocurrency. Unveiled in 2014, OneCoin was pitched as a revolutionary digital currency poised to reshape the global financial landscape, promising immense returns through events that mimicked religious fervor. However, the film meticulously unravels the facade, exposing OneCoin as an elaborate Ponzi scheme devoid of any underlying blockchain technology or functional pay-out system. Director Johan von Mirbach skillfully employs intimate accounts from Ignatova's former confidantes and colleagues, offering a rare, inside perspective on how she managed to deceive both authorities and investors. The narrative traces Ignatova's lavish lifestyle and her ultimate vanishing act, leaving behind a trail of duped clients and unanswered questions about the scheme's continued operation and the shadowy figures involved. It's a compelling look at modern financial fraud and the psychology of belief.
