CRUEL: THE CROSS VILLAGE ENCOUNTER

Cinemavixion Review

Victor Gabriel's "Cruel: The Cross Village Encounter" plunges viewers into the unsettling folklore of Michigan's Dogman legend. The film adeptly follows a group of young filmmakers venturing into the remote Cross Village, driven by the chilling testimony of a couple claiming a harrowing encounter with the cryptid. Gabriel, who also stars in the film, crafts an atmosphere of mounting dread, effectively blending documentary-style investigation with the inherent terror of the unknown. While its runtime may be concise, the narrative's focus on authenticity and the raw delivery of its subjects lend a palpable sense of unease. This independent feature is a compelling watch for fans of found-footage and creature features, offering a unique exploration of local myth and the human psyche under duress.
