CRISPY

Cinemavixion Review

Joe Leone's 2024 offering, "CRISPY," plunges headfirst into familiar slasher territory with a premise that promises both youthful adventure and primal fear. The film follows a group of friends, led by a witty teen, on a treasure hunt deep within the woods. Their ill-advised expedition, unfortunately, ignores the dire warnings of a telepathic sister, a narrative device that hints at supernatural undertones or foreshadowing to come. As the friends inevitably become lost, their quest for riches quickly devolves into a desperate fight for survival against a cannibalistic killer. While the plot treads a well-worn path in the horror genre, the execution by director Leone, coupled with the performances of Luke Ryan, Cole Ryan, and Shane Ryan, aims to deliver a suspenseful and chilling experience. "CRISPY" is a testament to the enduring appeal of the backwoods horror trope, offering a blend of teen camaraderie and gruesome encounters that should satisfy fans of the genre.
