CRIME DOWN UNDER: UNDERCOVER

Cinemavixion Review

This three-part documentary series, 'Crime Down Under: Undercover,' offers a gripping and often harrowing glimpse into the New Zealand Police Undercover Programme. Through candid interviews with former agents, the series delves into the profound human cost of operating deep within the criminal underworld. Episode One, 'Going Under,' sets a stark tone, detailing the program's 1970s inception and its entanglement with the notorious Mr. Asia crime syndicate. The narrative unflinchingly explores the psychological toll, the blurring lines of morality, and the personal sacrifices made by these agents. It raises critical questions about accountability and the long-term effects of such demanding work, presenting a compelling, if unsettling, portrait of dedication and the enduring struggle for a safer society.
