COYOTE LAKE

Cinemavixion Review

Sara Seligman's "Coyote Lake" masterfully crafts a tense, atmospheric thriller set against the stark backdrop of the US-Mexico border. The film centers on Ester, played with compelling vulnerability by Camila Mendes, and her formidable mother, portrayed by the always-captivating Adriana Barraza. Their secluded bed-and-breakfast becomes a crucible when two unexpected visitors disrupt their fragile existence, unearthing a dangerous secret that escalates the stakes. While the plot expertly weaves elements of crime and drama, it's the palpable tension and the exploration of familial bonds under duress that truly resonate. The performances are uniformly strong, anchoring the narrative with emotional depth. "Coyote Lake" is a gripping exploration of hidden truths and the lengths to which people will go to protect their own, offering a compelling cinematic experience that lingers long after the credits roll.
