Following a cataclysmic volcanic eruption, the indomitable Maciste guides the remnants of his people to the distant land of Urias. There, his heroic mettle is tested as he champions Amoha, a queen in flight from a tribe of fearsome head-hunters. This peplum adventure, directed by Guido Malatesta and starring Kirk Morris in the titular role, delivers the expected muscle-bound heroics and exotic locales characteristic of the genre. While perhaps not reaching the epic heights of its predecessors, 'Colossus and the Head Hunters' offers a solid dose of ancient world spectacle and straightforward heroism, making it a worthy, if somewhat standard, entry for fans of sword-and-sandal cinema.
