CLASSIC POPEYE - EPISODE 1: HIT AND MISSILES

Cinemavixion Review

In 'Hit and Missiles,' the inaugural episode of the Classic Popeye series from 1960, the indomitable sailor Popeye navigates the absurdities of the Cold War. The narrative plunges Popeye into a whimsical arms race between the fictional nations of Anytania and Poopsylvania, transforming him into an unwitting participant in a missile test. This installment cleverly blends classic Popeye slapstick humor with biting Cold War satire, featuring familiar characters like Olive Oyl and Wimpy, who undoubtedly contribute to the escalating chaos. It's a delightful return for the spinach-loving hero, offering a unique, animated perspective on a tense historical period.
