CITY OF VULTURES

Cinemavixion Review

Marcus Carothers' 'City of Vultures' plunges viewers into the gritty reality of urban survival, following Short's arduous journey post-imprisonment. The film masterfully navigates the treacherous landscape of the 'hood,' where past mistakes loom large and the allure of old habits constantly challenges newfound resolve. Az-is delivers a compelling performance as Short, embodying the internal conflict between seeking redemption and succumbing to familiar pressures. Carothers' direction creates a palpable sense of tension, underscoring the constant fight for survival. While the narrative explores familiar themes of crime and consequence, it does so with an authenticity that resonates. 'City of Vultures' offers a stark, unflinching look at the cyclical nature of poverty and crime, making for a thought-provoking cinematic experience that is both bleak and compelling.
