In 'Christmas Trade,' director Joel Souza crafts a heartwarming, albeit familiar, holiday tale centered on a father-son relationship in crisis. The film cleverly employs a body-swap premise, a classic trope, to force Mitch (William Baldwin), a work-obsessed LA lawyer, and his eleven-year-old son Robby (Michael Campion) into each other's shoes. This magical exchange offers a poignant opportunity for both to confront their strained connection, particularly in the wake of Robby's mother's passing. Baldwin and Campion deliver earnest performances, navigating the comedic potential of their swapped identities while grounding the narrative in genuine emotional stakes. Denise Richards adds a supporting presence as a love interest. While the film may not break new ground, its sincere exploration of family, forgiveness, and the true spirit of Christmas makes it a watchable, feel-good seasonal offering.
