CHRISTMAS IN WASHINGTON

Cinemavixion Review

Adrian Langley's "Christmas in Washington" (2021) offers a heartwarming, albeit familiar, holiday romance. The film centers on Emily Barnes, an ambitious interior decorator tasked with transforming the grand Kalmar Embassy for the festive season. Her challenge comes in the form of the new ambassador, Magnus Anderson, a man seemingly devoid of Christmas spirit, viewing the holidays as an unwelcome distraction. Natalie Lisinska brings a vibrant energy to Emily, effectively conveying her passion for design and her growing affection for the stoic ambassador. Damon Runyan embodies Magnus with a reserved charm that slowly melts away as Emily's infectious enthusiasm for Christmas begins to work its magic. The narrative follows a predictable yet satisfying arc as Emily introduces Magnus to the joy and wonder of the season, leading to inevitable romantic sparks. While the plot may tread familiar ground for the genre, the chemistry between Lisinska and Runyan, coupled with the festive ambiance of the embassy setting, makes "Christmas in Washington" a pleasant and cozy watch for those seeking a touch of holiday cheer.
