CHRISTMAS IN THE HIGHLANDS

Cinemavixion Review

In "Christmas in the Highlands," director Ryan Dewar crafts a charming, albeit predictable, holiday romance set against the picturesque backdrop of Scotland. The film stars Brooke Burfitt as Blair Henderson, a sharp perfume expert from New York tasked with securing a rare Scottish fragrance, "The Heart of the Highlands." Her mission is complicated by the handsome and decidedly stubborn aristocrat, Alistair McGregor (Dan Jeannotte), who is reluctant to part with his family's legacy. To get close to the coveted scent's secret formula, Blair adopts the guise of a documentary filmmaker, a ruse that unexpectedly draws her closer to Alistair. As the festive season unfolds and the annual Christmas ball approaches, the film explores whether the two protagonists can overcome their initial friction and discover the "scent of romance." While "Christmas in the Highlands" treads familiar romantic comedy ground, its festive spirit and the chemistry between its leads make it a pleasant watch for those seeking seasonal cheer. The film, released in 2019, offers a cozy escape, complete with Scottish vistas and the promise of a yuletide embrace.
