CHINA'S FORGOTTEN MASTER OF THE SEAS | ZHENG HE | ABSOLUTE HISTORY

Cinemavixion Review

This documentary delves into the remarkable life of Zheng He, a figure largely absent from conventional Western historical narratives. Born in 1371, his early life took a drastic turn when he was captured and castrated, yet he rose through the ranks to command an unprecedented naval armada. Over three decades, Zheng He led vast expeditions that traversed 25,000 miles, reaching as far as India, the Middle East, and Africa, predating Columbus's voyages by nearly a century. The narrative skillfully pieces together fragmented evidence to reconstruct the story of this extraordinary admiral and the true purpose behind his global journeys. It raises compelling questions about why such monumental achievements were systematically erased from Chinese history shortly after his death, prompting reflection on China's subsequent isolationism.
