CHEAT THE HANGMAN

Cinemavixion Review

Christopher Forbes' 2018 "Cheat the Hangman" plunges into the dusty, unforgiving world of the American West. The film, clocking in at a brisk 88 minutes, follows the son of a hangman as he embarks on a dangerous path of revenge after his father's murder. The narrative takes a turn towards the courtroom when the son's actions lead to his arrest, placing his fate squarely in the hands of another hangman, as he faces judgment from the territorial hanging judge. While the film's IMDb rating of 3.0 suggests a mixed reception, its exploration of themes like justice, fate, and the cyclical nature of violence within a Western setting may appeal to genre enthusiasts. The cast, including Jezibell Anat, Thomas Barlet, and Dan Beck, navigates this grim tale, striving to bring depth to the characters and the stark landscape they inhabit.
