CHATTER

Cinemavixion Review

Matthew Solomon's "Chatter" presents a chilling narrative that blends technological surveillance with supernatural horror. The film centers on Agent Martin Takagi, whose routine monitoring of internet traffic for the Department of Homeland Security takes a disturbing turn when he intercepts the private video calls of a couple. As the couple navigates a long-distance relationship, they begin to realize their new shared living space is plagued by an unseen, malevolent presence. Solomon, who also penned the screenplay, crafts a tense atmosphere, leveraging the intimacy and vulnerability of online communication to amplify the terror. The performances by Richard Hatch, Alison Haislip, and Brady Smith anchor the human element amidst the encroaching dread. While the film garnered 3 wins and 3 nominations, its 4.5 IMDb rating suggests a divisive reception, yet its unique premise offers a fresh perspective on haunted house tropes, making it a noteworthy watch for fans of psychological thrillers and modern horror.
