CHARLIE CHAPLIN: THE CURE

Cinemavixion Review

Charlie Chaplin's 'The Cure' is a delightful excursion into the master comedian's early genius. Set in a spa, the film humorously portrays Chaplin's character attempting to 'dry out' while secretly indulging in a trunk full of liquor. The narrative springs to life through a series of brilliant physical gags, including a memorable encounter with a gouty gentleman and a hilariously misinterpreted massage. Chaplin's signature blend of slapstick and subtle social commentary shines as his character navigates the absurdities of the spa environment. The film culminates in a chaotic, yet charming, sequence where a fountain of 'healthful waters' becomes the source of unexpected inebriation for everyone, a testament to Chaplin's knack for turning everyday situations into riotous spectacles.
