CHARLESTON & TRINITY

Cinemavixion Review

Enzo Barboni's 'Charleston & Trinity' plunges us into the gritty underworld of New York, centered on Sonny, a burgeoning wise guy with aspirations of gangster grandeur. The narrative unfolds as Sonny's loyalty and effectiveness in mob errands earn him a significant reward: control over Mulberry Street, a territory that notably includes a boxing gym. This setup promises a compelling blend of organized crime intrigue and the raw, physical world of pugilism. Giuliano Gemma's portrayal of Sonny is central, navigating the treacherous path from errand boy to street boss. The film appears to explore themes of ambition, loyalty, and the often-brutal ascent within a criminal hierarchy, all set against the vibrant, yet dangerous, backdrop of the city.
