This documentary delves into the complex and often overlooked legacy of Charles 'Lucky' Luciano, presenting a compelling argument for his significant, albeit controversial, role in American history, particularly during World War II. The film meticulously unearths secret documents, challenging conventional perceptions of Luciano as merely a notorious gangster. It illuminates his surprising influence that extended into aiding the U.S. government's war efforts, a narrative that recontextualizes his life beyond the confines of the criminal underworld. The production effectively pieces together a historical puzzle, revealing how a figure synonymous with organized crime may have also been an unlikely, yet pivotal, contributor to national security and the eventual Allied victory.
