CHAPTER 27

Cinemavixion Review

Jared Leto delivers a transformative, if unsettling, performance as Mark David Chapman in J.P. Schaefer's "Chapter 27." This 2007 drama plunges into the psychological turmoil of the days leading up to the assassination of John Lennon, offering a chilling, albeit controversial, character study. While the film garnered some attention, particularly for Leto's dedicated portrayal (reportedly involving significant weight gain), critical reception was largely tepid, reflected in its Metacritic score of 32/100 and Rotten Tomatoes rating of 18%. Despite the stark portrayal of obsession and the dramatic weight of its subject matter, "Chapter 27" struggles to fully engage, often feeling more like a grim document than a compelling narrative. Lindsay Lohan also features in a supporting role. For those interested in the darker corners of celebrity history and the minds of those who commit infamous acts, it offers a unique, if somber, perspective.
