CARYL OF THE MOUNTAINS

Cinemavixion Review

Bernard B. Ray's "Caryl of the Mountains" offers a rollicking, if somewhat improbable, adventure from 1936. The film plunges into a mystery involving embezzled funds and a murdered fur trapper, a plot that, while perhaps not demanding serious contemplation, serves as a sturdy framework for canine heroism. The true star, Rin Tin Tin Jr., alongside Francis X. Bushman Jr., injects a lively spirit into the proceedings. While the narrative might stretch credulity, its earnest execution and the undeniable charm of its four-legged protagonist make it a worthwhile diversion for an hour. It's a testament to the enduring appeal of classic B-movie serials, delivering straightforward entertainment with a dash of old-fashioned melodrama.
