CARPATHIA - FROM THE MOUNTAINS TO THE SEA

Cinemavixion Review

Alasdair Grant's "Carpathia - From the Mountains to the Sea" offers a captivating journey through Romania's stunning natural landscapes and enduring cultural heritage. Presented by Charlie Ottley, this three-part documentary series unveils the vast, relatively untouched wilderness of the Carpathian mountains, a region boasting a remarkable diversity of wildlife, including significant populations of brown bears, wolves, and lynx. The series thoughtfully contrasts this untamed beauty with the timeless, almost medieval lifestyles of its inhabitants, presenting a poignant snapshot of a Europe rapidly changing. Ottley's exploration, particularly his traversal of the southern Carpathians from the Iron Gates to the Danube Delta, highlights the region's majestic scenery and the unique ecosystems it supports. It is a compelling invitation to discover a corner of Europe that remains remarkably preserved.
